Oh, we know how to party

Did you hear? Anthony is visiting the States!  He and Thomas will be touring the East Coast, meeting volunteers and supporters,  in New York, Boston, and Washington D.C., respectively.  To hear more about his visit check here. OHMHers certainly know how to party for a great cause! Here are a couple recent events that not only show OHMH party lust, but showcase OHMHers’ creativity and commitment to raising awareness for the girls of Mudzini Kwetu.

You may remember reading about Amy’ birthday celebration for OHMH—here’s a little snippet from that oh so swanky affair from the birthday lady herself:

“The OHMH fundraiser dinner turned into a fancy event attended by an eclectic group of fifty people in the lovely home of my dear friend, Alex.  My little idea, Alex’s generosity, a half dozen OHMH volunteers and the stories of the Mudzini Kwetu girls impacted the hearts and minds of strangers gathered in a room— raising $6,000 in just one night!  It just proves that there are so many future OHMH supporters out there who can meet a volunteer who shares their passion for OHMH, opening new eyes to a cause we all know is worth caring about.  I know of at least one OHMH’er who plans to donate his birthday to the cause this year and I hope MANY of you do the same.

If you would like to connect with one of the volunteers from the evening to learn how to host your own OHMH Birthday Fundraiser, please contact Cristina Banderas (cristinabanderas@gmail.com) or Reetu Sharma (r2reetu@gmail.com).  To read more about my event  visit my blog, and may you all have the most joyous birthdays this year and may they all be just as memorable – and hopefully – supportive of our 32 girls in Kenya and the new school we are ALL building together!”

And from the OHMH NYC Chapter, an evening of karoake and OHMH love. Just so curious, what song was on the jukebox?

“Iggy’s Lounge on the Upper East Side was full to bursting with beads, boys and bedazzling ladies belting out ballads from Bonnie Tyler and beyond. It was loud, it was joyful, and it raised more than enough money to send an OHMH to school for a year. And more than enough laughs to make you come back to an OHMH event, or come to your first one if you missed that but are reading this. Right?”
